The meeting started with me being called to my ward's Activities Committee. We have an activity coming up this month. It should be fun. That brings the score to callings, 3; releases 0. The callings have widened the gap. I was set apart so it should work out.
In Sunday school we are in Alma and were talking about the missions of the sons of Mosiah. It is always fantastic to read of Ammon's mission to Lamanites and the opportunities the Lord gave him as he served in the household of King Lamoni. I particularly love how Ammon is able to choose the right opportunities among all of those presented to him. For example, when he was first taken before King Lamoni, Ammon earns his favor and his offered one of his daughters to take as a wife. He declines the opportunity and asks to be a servant. Reading this you think "What the heck? How much influence could he have had if he'd married the Kings daughter?" But then, as you read, you see how the Lord guides Ammon and in a very spectacular way. We get a much more exciting story :-) and, when you think about it, there probably would have been way too many politics, being married to a princess, to be able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Fantastic.
